Frozen Cubes
I'm not making babyfood these days, but there are several foods that I still make and freeze in ice cube trays. You'll find these noted in many of my recipes. This is a great way to reduce waste and increase the nutritional content of your foods.
Baby Spinach or Kale -- Puree raw in a blender with just enough water to blend. Freeze in cubes, use in soups, smoothies, sauces.
Sweet Potato or Butternut Squash -- Steam until soft, puree in blender with water. Freeze in cubes. Use in smoothies, spaghetti sauce, or thaw and eat directly.
Avocado -- I generally don't cook with avocado, but it freezes great without turning brown. Mash it and freeze, then thaw it and put it in oatmeal, make a spread, or eat directly.
