About Me and this Site
I created this site because I remember how I felt when my son was first diagnosed with food allergies. It began when he was around 3 months and we discovered a milk allergy. Lots of infants have an intolerance to milk, and fewer have an allergy. As time progressed and the problems did not disappear, we discovered in working with an allergist around 16 months that he was not only allergic to dairy, but to eggs, peanuts, and tree nuts.
Whoa Nelly!!! I remember thinking, "what in the world am I going to feed this kid?"
It hasn't been that long ago, but I've come a long way baby! There's been a lot of researching and a lot of help from other moms. But, the most common issue when food allergies are discovered for moms always comes back to needing ideas for how to feed children who face dietary restrictions a well-rounded diet. Especially in the first few months after a diagnosis when it seems the most overwhelming. Moms need help, and fast!
Thus, "The Allergylicious Mama Chef" is born. Hopefully, this will become a resource for moms who are in the first stage of discovery. And as time goes on, hopefully I'll be able to continue to serve you with ideas, links, and recipes. Maybe you'll come back when you find yourself in a rut and in need of fresh ideas. I hope to make the process less cumbersome for other moms and save you some time by saving you steps in finding the information you need.
This is not an all-encompassing site. I'm dealing only with dairy, eggs, peanuts, and tree nuts because that's all I know. If you are working with one or all of these allergies, I am here to help.
Good luck!
